As a managing editor for Mubasher.info's English news portal, I performed the
following duties:

• Managing a team of translators (English into Arabic and vice versa), reviewers,
and a copy editor (10 members total)

• Reviewing translations by team members 

• Reviewing the copy editor's work

• Backing up team members when there is an influx of stories

• Providing translations when needed

• Ensuring that the most important stories are covered

• Assisting my team members with prioritisation, translation, headline selection,
and word choice...etc

• Offering team members guidance with regards to terminology, phrasing,
financial information

• Covering events and writing articles when required

• Managing a sub-project from Dow Jones Newswires

• Selecting team members when new positions are opened or when members
leave for other opportunities

• Screening CVs with the HR department during the hiring process

• Ensuring that the top management's vision is being met through the content
produced

• Assisting the Social Media Team with important stories covered and what can be
promoted

 

Prior to becoming a managing editor, I was an English news editor and translator
at Mubasher between June 2014 and October 2015.

 

The marketing managed budget and product/service range cost for marketing
were not applicable to me in those roles.
